NFL Sundays: Browns @ Vikings Preview | x NFLGirlUK

The regular season continues onto week four with Browns @ Vikings and our resident writer Liz Bhandari from NFLGirlUK.com is back to give us her game preview of the 6PM Sky Sports game. She believes we’re set to have a very exciting game coming up between with the Browns @ Vikings. Let’s see what she has to say…

There isn’t any shortage of star talent in this game that’s for sure. Going over the Browns first, they have improved vastly since last season. Baker Mayfield continues to be a fantastic leader and he has relied upon a dynamic backfield that consists of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Sadly, Jarvis Landry has been ruled out already for this game due to an injury, but the team just got Odell Beckham Jr back from his injury last week.

Their offense line is phenomenal and their defense is built around their pass rush. Last weekend, they racked up nine sacks on Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears. Myles Garrett was responsible for 4.5 of those sacks and Jadeveon Clowney had two of them. Expect them to harass an injured Vikings offensive line in this game.

Which brings me to the Vikings. They haven’t really played up to their potential so far to start this season off, but the talent is definitely there. Their offensive line has struggled with a few injuries but has held up well for the most part.

Kirk Cousins has been great so far and his receivers are making his job a lot easier. Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson are proving to be wildly difficult to slow down throughout the course of a game. Minnesota also has Dalvin Cook to rest on if their passing game doesn’t go the way that they are hoping it would. Cook was in fact listed on the injury report though, so if he ends up being held off the field expect a heavy dose of Alexander Mattison in this offense.

Defensively, Minnesota is a mess. Of course, linebacker Eric Kendricks and safety Harrison Smith are stars but outside of that there is a severe lack of talent. Danielle Hunter has been good but not great and Anthony Barr has barely played due to injury.

This is going to be a tough game for me to call because each of these teams thrive in their own areas of the field. Both teams love to establish a strong run game and focus their offensive game plan around that. If this were to happen, I would have a lot more faith in the Browns winning this game. Their offense line is overall better, and their defensive line has far more playmakers. Cleveland will be the team to get the run game going and the Vikings are likely to have to play catch up due to their below-average defense.

This matchup has all the makings for a high scoring shootout between two stacked offenses. Who wouldn’t want to see that?

Once and For All: Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder III

By Tom Cleary for We Love Sport

On the 9th of October, Tyson Fury heads back to the United States of America to fight Deontay Wilder for the third time in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. This fight sees Fury defend his WBC and Ring Magazine heavyweight titles against the man who he stopped in February 2020, Deontay Wilder.  The Gypsy King and The Bronze Bomber – Once and For All.

This is Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder PART 3!

It has been nearly three years since Tyson Fury went to America and challenged then-unbeaten WBC champion Deontay Wilder. At the time, the Bronze Bomber was 40-0 with 39 knockouts, whilst Tyson Fury had had two comeback fights after three years off. To many, it was almost certain that Fury would come home defeated. 12 rounds later, where Fury was dropped twice but dominated the fight, The Gypsy King came home with an incredibly controversial draw.

It took 14 months for the two men to finally get back in the ring again, with the pair of them winning 2 fights each in between their bouts. The MGM Grand Garden Arena played host to the super-fight and it did not disappoint. The night (and fight) went down in heavyweight history. After Fury being dropped by Wilder twice in their first outing, many expected Fury’s lights to be put out. This was not the case and Tyson Fury won every round before finally finishing Deontay Wilder on his feet in the 7th round, reclaiming one of the belts he did not actually lose, but vacated.

It seemed that Deontay Wilder’s rematch clause expired, and Fury agreed to fight Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia for the undisputed heavyweight championship. The debate on the rematch clause expiry went to an arbitration judge who decided that the rematch clause was in fact valid. The trilogy was agreed for July 24th, but Team Fury was struck with a COVID outbreak, pushing the fight back to October 9th.

Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder – will it really be different than last time?

This fight is not something that appeals to everyone, for the simple fact that 90% of the boxing world believe it will go exactly like the last one. Most people thought the first fight was relatively one sided (bar the two knockdowns) and there is only one word to describe the second fight: mauling. A lot of people thought that there was never going to be a trilogy because of how easy Fury found the second fight and it took so long for Wilder to show any genuine interest in fighting Fury again.

Tyson Fury thinks it will be easier than the second fight, but Alabama’s own Wilder sees it going completely different. Wilder has named so many outrageous reasons as to why he lost his unbeaten record to Fury and has simply never accepted that Fury is the better man. He claimed his walkout outfit weighed 45 pounds so he was tired, his water was spiked, Fury illegally padded his gloves, the referee. He even went as far as blaming his cornermen, who he has since fired and replaced. The fact of the matter is Deontay Wilder cannot fight on the back foot and that is exactly what Fury made him do last February and will probably make him do again.

Everyone knows for a fact Tyson Fury is a better boxer than Deontay Wilder. He is arguably more technical and slicker than any heavyweight ever, especially for a 19.5 stone 6’9 man. There is one way this fight goes different than the last – Wilder lands a huge right hand and as history shows there is no guarantee that finishes Fury either. In fairness, Wilder’s entire career has been “can he land that right hand?” and with 41 knockouts, he often does and it often lays out his opponent. The Gypsy King is heavy favourite with the bookies, so many people think it will not be different, but that is the beauty of heavyweight boxing.

Fury wins. Then what?

The 17th of May 2021 was a landmark day for heavyweight boxing. After years of speculation and talks, WBC and Ring magazine heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and WBA (super), IBO, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua agreed to fight on August 14th in Saudi Arabia in possibly the biggest heavyweight fight ever and the biggest in British history. The fight would have seen one man become the undisputed champion. Then, Wilder showed his face again. The fight was postponed and Fury had to defend against Wilder.

Anthony Joshua did not wait around, he signed to fight Oleksandr Usyk. The generic feeling was that both Joshua and Fury would win their fights and the two Englishmen would meet in early 2022. Usyk did not stick to the script. The Ukrainian dominated Joshua in London and took all of the belts. It is thought the two will now face one another again in Kiev.

It is simple if Fury loses to Wilder: they fight again. If he wins however, there are more questions than answers about what is next. If he beats Wilder, that chapter is completely closed and it is on to the next. Fury has said he only sees himself having 5 more fights at the very maximum. Fury will most likely have to wait, despite him claiming he will fight Dillan Whyte this December. He may decide to wait for the Usyk/Joshua saga to play out and fight for the undisputed title. Fury may decide to fight a mandatory and then fight Anthony Joshua for a big summer showdown in 2022 even if Joshua is not a champion.

Fury is an unpredictable man. Literally, anything he does after this fight will not be a surprise, including hanging up the gloves. Boxing fans would love to see who is the greatest out of Fury, Joshua and Usyk and see who wins the race to undisputed, but British fans would love to see the rivalry between Joshua and Fury reach a definitive ending. Either way, it all depends on whether Tyson Fury can repeat history and defeat the Bronze Bomber, Deontay Wilder.

NFL Sundays: Chargers @ Chiefs Preview | x NFLGirlUK

With week two in the bag, our resident writer Liz Bhandari from NFLGirlUK.com is back to give us her game preview of the 6PM Sky Sports game. Let’s see what she has to say as we head into the Chargers @ Chiefs.

Week three has some seriously exciting games for week three but there is one game that stands above the rest, and it happens to be a grudge match between the Chargers @ Chiefs. Two teams with playoff aspirations that are hoping to pile onto their win total.

The division battle between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs is sure to be a great one. The Chargers enter this contest with a 1-1 record, defeating the Washington Football Team in the opener before falling to the Dallas Cowboys. The Chiefs are in the same boat, defeating the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 before losing to the Baltimore Ravens in wild fashion. There isn’t going to be any shortage of offense in this game that’s for sure.

LA Chargers

The Chargers, led by Justin Herbert, have gotten healthier on this end of the ball. Their offensive line has looked strong in two games so far and the combination of Austin Ekeler and Keenan Allen has heavily impacted the pass and run game. Their defense also has several weapons with Derwin James and Joey Bosa wreaking havoc across the field.

Kansas City Chiefs

As for the Chiefs, well, they have Patrick Mahomes leading the charge. He has been unstoppable during the month of September, though he did lose his first career game in this month last week. Had it not been for a horrible Clyde Edwards Helaire fumble with just over a minute remaining in the game, Kansas City would have run the clock down and kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired. Still, Mahomes and company should get themselves back on track here and be more motivated than ever. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce form one of the most unstoppable duos in the league right now as well. Even their offensive line found a way to improve after last season. The Chiefs have struggled a little bit defensively though, despite having playmakers like Tyrann Mathieu on that side of the ball.

These two squads know each other very well, and that familiarity usually ends up with these games being close until the very end. I wouldn’t expect any different in this matchup with each of these teams trying desperately to get themselves back into the win column.

So, who comes away with the win? Personally, I would roll with the Chiefs in this game. Not only has it been nearly impossible for Mahomes to lose two games back-to-back but doing so during the month that he has consistently dominated just sounds insane. The Chargers are a phenomenal team with a great new head coach but after falling to the Cowboys they must be shaken up. After all, that was a game they could have easily won and yet were stifled by Dallas’ surprisingly talented defense. Kansas City will take this game, but it won’t be by a large margin that’s for sure.

Division rivalries are always intense and heated between both teams and they usually end up being fantastic games. Combine that with the insane amount of talent that is going to be gracing the field and you got yourself a can’t miss performance. Who wouldn’t want to experience a game like this?

North London Derby Combined XI as chosen on the Derby Days Podcast

On Sunday the North London Derby takes place between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur for the 190th time and there has never been more drama surrounding these two famous clubs.

It is fair to say that both clubs have been in somewhat of a downward spiral over recent years and bragging rights to these two sets of fans mean more than ever before. Will North London be red or white come 7pm on Sunday?

In the meantime we got together Spurs fanatic Jono Molloy and Gooner Matt Barkley to battle it out the first-ever Derby Days Podcast brought to you by We Love Sport.

Their aim along with host Joe Forrester was to amicably compromise on who they would pick in their combined North London XI. Here’s how they got on.

GK – Jens Lehmann – Arsenal

The 6ft3 German international who represented the Gunners 148 times including most notably being sent off in the UEFA Champions League final in 2006 against Barcelona got the nod ahead of Hugo Lloris.

RB – Kyle Walker – Spurs

The right back who controversially moved to Man City after 184 appearances for Spurs beat Lauren to the right back role.

LB – Ashley Cole – Arsenal

Despite leaving Arsenal for fierce rivals Chelsea back in 2006 after receiving a contract offer that nearly caused him to crash his Bentley he was unanimously picked at left back. Not to much to say for the other left backs representing both Spurs and Arsenal down the years!

CB – Ledley King – Spurs

The best defender Thierry Henry ever played against which is incredibly impressive considering the centre back effectively had one knee. After representing Spurs on a whopping 268 times he now a cult hero at the club.

CB – Tony Adams – Arsenal

After some extended debate Tony Adams pipped Spurs traitor Sol Campbell to the last centre back spot. After 19 years and 504 appearances at Arsenal we believe Big Tony Adams to be a worthy winner. Here’s his greatest moment in Arsenal shirt:

CM – Patrick Veira – Arsenal

Captain of ‘The Invincibles’. Arsenal have never really been able to replace the midfield general who played 279 times for the Gunners who is now the manager of Crystal Palace.

CM – Luka Modric – Spurs

The only player to win the Ballon d’Or since 2007 who doesn’t have the surname Ronaldo or Messi. Made his name at Spurs feeding Gareth Bale.

AM – Dennis Bergkamp – Arsenal

Dennis Bergkamp only scores great goals. Admittedly not a midfielder but no North London XI can be without the artist that is Dennis Bergkamp unless they are of course playing abroad – terrified of flying.

RW – Son Heung-min – Spurs

A fans favourite who has truly become a key player to the Spurs line-up over the past couple of seasons. Surprisingly beat Gareth Bale & Robert Pires to a place on the wing.

ST – Harry Kane – Spurs

You can’t have a North London XI without the all time North London Derby top goalscorer. Harry Kane overtook Bobby Smith and Emmanuel Adebayor by scoring his 11th North London Derby goal against Arsenal the last time the teams met in December 2020 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

LW – Thierry Henry – Arsenal

To complete this epic 11 we needed to add let’s say a bit of je ne sais quoi! 174 goals in 254 appearances for the Gunners is truly outstanding and he arguably scored the greatest North London Derby goal of all time.
