On Sunday the North London Derby takes place between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur for the 190th time and there has never been more drama surrounding these two famous clubs. It is fair to say that both clubs have been in somewhat of a downward spiral over recent years and bragging rights to these two sets of fans mean more than ever before. Will North London be red or white come 7pm on Sunday? [fixture id=7761 btn label="Book Now"] In the meantime we got together Spurs fanatic Jono Molloy and Gooner Matt Barkley to battle it out the first-ever Derby Days Podcast brought to you by We Love Sport. Their aim along with host Joe Forrester was to amicably compromise on who they would pick in their combined North London XI. Here's how they got on.

GK - Jens Lehmann - Arsenal

The 6ft3 German international who represented the Gunners 148 times including most notably being sent off in the UEFA Champions League final in 2006 against Barcelona got the nod ahead of Hugo Lloris. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHbySBYK7io

RB - Kyle Walker - Spurs

The right back who controversially moved to Man City after 184 appearances for Spurs beat Lauren to the right back role.

LB - Ashley Cole - Arsenal

Despite leaving Arsenal for fierce rivals Chelsea back in 2006 after receiving a contract offer that nearly caused him to crash his Bentley he was unanimously picked at left back. Not to much to say for the other left backs representing both Spurs and Arsenal down the years!

CB - Ledley King - Spurs

The best defender Thierry Henry ever played against which is incredibly impressive considering the centre back effectively had one knee. After representing Spurs on a whopping 268 times he now a cult hero at the club.

CB - Tony Adams - Arsenal

After some extended debate Tony Adams pipped Spurs traitor Sol Campbell to the last centre back spot. After 19 years and 504 appearances at Arsenal we believe Big Tony Adams to be a worthy winner. Here's his greatest moment in Arsenal shirt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IzgG0AzgEA

CM - Patrick Veira - Arsenal

Captain of 'The Invincibles'. Arsenal have never really been able to replace the midfield general who played 279 times for the Gunners who is now the manager of Crystal Palace.

CM - Luka Modric - Spurs

The only player to win the Ballon d'Or since 2007 who doesn't have the surname Ronaldo or Messi. Made his name at Spurs feeding Gareth Bale. AM - Dennis Bergkamp - Arsenal Dennis Bergkamp only scores great goals. Admittedly not a midfielder but no North London XI can be without the artist that is Dennis Bergkamp unless they are of course playing abroad - terrified of flying. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsOkZZ0k5kE

RW - Son Heung-min - Spurs

A fans favourite who has truly become a key player to the Spurs line-up over the past couple of seasons. Surprisingly beat Gareth Bale & Robert Pires to a place on the wing.

ST - Harry Kane - Spurs

You can't have a North London XI without the all time North London Derby top goalscorer. Harry Kane overtook Bobby Smith and Emmanuel Adebayor by scoring his 11th North London Derby goal against Arsenal the last time the teams met in December 2020 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dY5pFEIf9AQ

LW - Thierry Henry - Arsenal

To complete this epic 11 we needed to add let's say a bit of je ne sais quoi! 174 goals in 254 appearances for the Gunners is truly outstanding and he arguably scored the greatest North London Derby goal of all time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPjd8Z178l0 Listen to the full episode of Derby Days: The North London Derby on all major Podcast providers or click the image below to watch on YouTube.   The We Love Sport App is the go-to destination for all things pub sport.
