Pubs and Bars Showing Anthony Joshua vs Jermaine Franklin

Anthony Joshua vs Jermaine Franklin: New Dawn

It’s being billed as a “New Dawn” and that’s exactly what it is when Anthony Joshua meets Jermaine Franklin on the 1st of April in the O2 Arena, London. It’s Joshua’s first non-world title fight since 2015 when he squared off with Franklin’s last opponent – Dillian Whyte.

It’s hard to beat being live in the arena, but we’ve done it. There is nowhere better to watch Anthony Joshua vs Jermaine Franklin than live in a We Love Sport pub or bar. Great screens, fantastic pints and an immersive atmosphere, we can get you feeling like you’re in the O2 arena.

Tale of the Tape

Anthony Joshua (24-3) has been one of the biggest stars in boxing. Every fight he has been in since 2016 has been a world title fight, competing all over the globe. This is his first fight that’s not for a world title since he fought Charles Martin. Oleksandr Usyk defeated Joshua twice in the past two years & it’s led to Joshua taking this step back and going again. At only 33, Joshua has time to go on another title charge, but it needs to start by defeating Jermaine Franklin in a dominant fashion.

Franklin’s (21-1) career has been the classic American career. 21 fights in America against lowly-ranked fighters before making his move. Fair play to Franklin, he made the move after 21 fights and came to fight a game Dillian Whyte. The 989 Assassin lost the fight by majority decision, but that doesn’t mean this is an easy fight for Joshua. In the eyes of most, Franklin defeated Whyte in London, despite the scorecards.

How will it go down?

The Watford man meets the Michigan native and truly, it should be a banger. Jermaine Franklin has gone the distance in 5 out of his last 6 fights, winning 4 via decision. Franklin has the stamina to last and it’s up to Joshua to get him out of there early. Joshua made a career out of knocking people out, but it’s slowed down recently. One thing this does show is, AJ has developed that energy and will to get to the final bell if needs be.

A points decision against a relatively unheard of fighter is not enough for Joshua though. Anthony Joshua took it steady against Usyk, and rightfully so. That can’t be the case here. He will need to go for the juggernaut early if he wants to catch the eyes of Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk and even Deontay Wilder.

We Love Sport Prediction

It’s not quite going to be the walkover many casual fans expect. Yes, Whyte technically beat Franklin, but truth be told that was the wrong decision. But that doesn’t mean Anthony Joshua isn’t the clear favourite. Likelihood is Joshua will take a few rounds to get on his feet and then finish Franklin in the mid to late rounds. Saying that, he could also blitz him. Nobody knows where Anthony Joshua’s head is right now.

Prediction: Anthony Joshua via 8th round knockout.

We Love Sport x Boxing

We love boxing at We Love Sport and we’re trying to bring the adrenaline and immersive feeling of fight night to our pubs and bars! It’s been a strong era of heavyweight boxing and we’re hoping that Anthony Joshua can find some form and get back to his best. Ready 4 War: Jake Paul v Nate Diaz

Ready 4 War: Jake Paul v Nate Diaz

Jake Paul fights for the first time since his loss to Tommy Fury, as he meets UFC veteran Nate Diaz. On the 5th of August, the two men head to the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Jake Paul is looking to add another legend to his CV, whilst Nate Diaz is here to show that he’s a different level to every single opponent the YouTuber has faced so far.

Find the fixture on the Clubhouse 5 pub page

The two American’s will be clashing on DAZN and We Love Sport pubs and bars are showing the fight. The walkouts will be in the early morning for us here, but there will be great pubs and bars for you to watch the two go at it. If you’re a fan of the UFC, you’ll be wanting to see an OG end the mockery that Jake Paul is partaking in. If you’re Team Paul, you’ll be in a We Love Sport pub or bar wanting to see a win and a bout v KSI.

The Tale of the Tape

Jake Paul is a 6-1 professional. YouTube boxing has been quite the farce and Paul’s career does show that. Having defeated a YouTuber and an NBA player, Paul turned his attention to retired UFC fighters. Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley & Anderson Silva all fell short against Paul. Jake Paul since fought Tommy Fury in what was a terrible show of (or lack of) boxing skills. Paul lost, and instead of having an immediate rematch, he decided to fight yet another MMA fighter, however Nate isn’t quite like the rest.

Nate Diaz is an absolute icon in the mixed martial arts world. Diaz and his brother, Nick, are two of the best boxers in the sport and have chins of steel. Nate shot to mainstream fame after defeating Conor McGregor back in 2016 and then competing in one of the greatest fights of all time as McGregor defeated Nate. Since then, fights v Jorge Masvidal, Leon Edwards and Tony Ferguson kept the Stockton native in the public eye. Now, Diaz is looking to “take over another profession and become the best at that” before heading back to the UFC.

How will it go down?

People think that this is going to be just like Jake Paul’s other endeavours against former mixed martial artists, but it’s not. Ben Askren had left MMA after a big surgery and didn’t return. Tyron Woodley lost 4 on the spin before leaving the UFC and Anderson Silva won 1 of his last 9 UFC fights. Nate beat Tony Ferguson and Anthony Pettis, whilst losing to BMF Jorge Masvidal and to now-UFC Champion Leon Edwards. Diaz is an incredibly skilled boxer with a chin of steel having only been knocked out cold once (from a headkick).

Jake Paul showed he could not box well when he faced Tommy Fury. Jake will try to suffocate Nate Diaz. No skill, just hugging and swinging – just like the Fury fight. In a smaller ring, that’s what he’ll do. Diaz will outbox and hurt Jake Paul. The two are fighting with 10oz gloves which is obviously much bigger than the 4oz that are used in MMA. Despite this, Nate was the first man to rock and beat up Conor McGregor on the feet. If Nate can hurt McGregor, he’ll hurt Jake Paul and over the course of 10 rounds, he will show Jake Paul the reality of fighting a real fighter.

We Love Sport prediction

Nate isn’t known for knockout power and he is wearing bigger gloves. Despite this, this will be a fight similar to Mayweather v McGregor. It’s a completely different skill level and despite the age difference, the cardio is firmly in the elder man’s camp. Nate should box up Jake Paul and win on points, if he hasn’t made Paul quit before then.

Prediction: Nate Diaz via unanimous decision.
