NEW SPORTS BAR ALERT! THE HIDEOUT, DERBY

If you live in the Midlands then you need to check out The Hideout in Derby! This is seriously one of the coolest sports bars we have seen for some time!

SEEK AND YE SHALL FIND ‘THE HIDEOUT’

Good things come to those who wait, so buckle up and start your engines as The Hideout FINALLY opened its doors on Friday 17th July!

Combining retro and new tech with childhood nostalgia in the best possible way, the boredom-free venue will introduce itself to the city in a safe and socially distanced manner, giving locals a highly anticipated taste of what’s to come.

A zoned layout, kitted out with signature tunnel booths, the site in Market Square offers a personal space in which to visit. With custom adaptability in each, locals will be able to tailor their nook to suit the vibe they’re going for, or simply adjust the lighting to get a perfect selfie for the ‘gram. It pays to book!

Customers can make the most of table-service as they try the venue’s unpretentious menu full of delicious, fuss-free flavours that are ideal for sharing with mates – so why not get a selection to try?

Offering tasty tipples aplenty, the all-new tap bar will serve a selection of high-quality drinks and cocktails that are a match made in heaven for the season – from the classic Pornstar Martini, to the bright and bold Ex On the Beach and Aperol Spritz… what’s not to love? A range of brews will also await craft connoisseurs, with a list of spirits, mixers and soft drinks to boot.

Whilst there’s plenty to do, some surprises will have to wait for when the venue can be enjoyed in all its glory…including a speed-reaction wall, I-pool, a circular ping-pong table and an extensive events programme. Locals will also have the option to test their skills in the bar’s own gaming room: from pop-up experiences to the best retro games and new releases, it’s a space in which to immerse yourself. Regular offers and events will also run throughout the week, including open-mic nights, DJs and hip-hop brunches. A packaged schedule of sports will also be screened.

Look forward to Live Socials – where nothing stays still – and immersive gaming that will unleash your inner competitiveness.

David Hancock, General Manager at The Hideout said: “We are so excited to finally be opening The Hideout. Whilst our launch is a little later than planned, and customers will have to wait a little longer to get the full Hideout experience, we’re looking forward to giving locals the first glimpse of our new venue, which we believe offers a blueprint of how pubs will evolve in years to come. We can’t wait to see the reaction.”

We’re delighted to welcome The Hideout to the We Love Sport family. Visit their website for further information on live sport, food & drink. Click here.

PREVIEW: ARSENAL V CHELSEA, THE HEADS UP FA CUP FINAL 2020

Saturday afternoon sees the finale of the 2019/20 domestic season with rivals Chelsea and Arsenal battling it out for the FA Cup. Both London sides have a rich history with the cup so this should be a very interesting affair come 5:30pm.

With over 300 We Love Sport pubs & bars broadcasting the FA Cup Final there really is no better place to enjoy than down the pub. Find where you can watch here.

Arsenal look for a record-extending 14th FA Cup win to secure their place in next seasons Europa League whilst Chelsea will be looking to cap off what has been a fine season with some domestic silverware.

Both sides are recent winners of this prestigious trophy with Chelsea lifting the trophy through a 1-0 victory over Man United in 2018 whilst Arsenal beat Chelsea back in 2017.

HEAD TO HEAD

Recent matches between these two sides have been nothing short of thrilling with Chelsea just having the edge over the Gunners this season taking four points over the 2 meetings.

History favours Arsenal with 76 victories and 59 draws over the last 200 meetings.

Arsenal will be looking for sweet revenge over the Blues after last years Baku disaster. An Eden Hazard masterclass gave the Blues a 4-1 victory over Arsenal in the Europa League Final.

Arsenal have beaten Chelsea previously in the FA Cup Final with a 2-0 victory in 2002 and a 2-1 victory in 2017.

THE ROAD TO WEMBLEY

Arsenal booked their place in the final with a stunning 2-0 win over Manchester City following victories against Sheffield United, Pompey, Bournemouth & Leeds United.

Meanwhile, i’m sure no Gooners would disagree that Chelsea had the more difficult route to Wembley with victories over Man United, Leicester City, Liverpool, Hull City & Notts Forest.

GOAL FEST PREDICTED

Both sides have been criticised this season over their defensive frailties by conceding a combined total of 102 goals over the course of the Premier League season.

However, they also have a mouth watering abundance of talent going forward which should promise goals come Saturday evening. Something for the neutral but probably not something for the ticker of every Chelsea & Arsenal fan with London bragging rights up for grabs.

TEAM NEWS

Arsenal: Shkodran Mustafi joins Pablo Mari, Bernd Leno, Calum Chambers & Gabriel Martinelli on the long term injury list whilst Hector Bellerin returns after missing the last game of the season.

Chelsea: Billy Gilmour is out following knee surgery but N’Golo Kante faces a late fitness test to see whether he can be involved.

PREDICTION

Predicting the outcome of this final is no easy task and really it comes down to which defence is the best on the day as we know both teams can score goals.

Arsenal have tightened up of late under the guidance of Mikel Arteta and seem to have an almighty love affair with this cup. So for me the Gunners just edge this one.

Arsenal 3-2 Chelsea

Eric Cantona, Manchester United 1-0 Liverpool – 1996

Weirdly, Liverpool’s bizarre white suits live long in the memory here for all the wrong reasons but it was King Eric who made the headlines. The match was largely unmemorable and heading towards extra time but in the 85th minute a piece of sublime technique won the game for the Red Devils.

On a Manchester United corner David James came out flapping and fumbled the ball to the edge of the Liverpool penalty area. Cantona, almost ballerina like, gracefully readjusted his entire body to hit a half sweet volley through a cluster of white & green shirts whilst also falling slowly backwards.

Ray Parlour, Arsenal 2-0 Chelsea – 2002

Ray Parlour, nicknamed the Romford Pele, was a popular player with Gunners fans but was never renowned for his goal scoring talents.

In a closely fought all London battle Parlour opened the scoring in the 70th minute with a beautifully curled shot from 25 yards out.

Arsenal would go on to win the final 2-0 over their London rivals Chelsea.

Michael Owen, Arsenal 1-2 Liverpool – 2001

Arsenal‘s name was all but on the trophy in 2001 but Michael Owen decided he was having none of that.

Arsenal shell shocked from a late Liverpool equaliser were at 6’s and 7’s with 5 minutes of normal time to play. Patrick Berger picked the ball up deep in his own half before striking a 40 yard route 1 ping over the panicking heads of Lee Dixon and Tony Adams.

Michael Owen racing past them like Road Runner just needed two devastating touches to send the Liverpool fans into a state of pandemonium in the Welsh capital.

Roberto Di Matteo, Chelsea 2-0 Middlesbrough – 1997

The quickest goal in an FA Cup Final at that time with the game only being 42 seconds old.

Dennis Wise stole the ball deep in his own half before releasing Roberto Di Matteo on a 30 yard run through the heart of Middlesbrough. Just as you thought he was going to lay it wide he lined up a ridiculous thunder bolt of a shot.

Middlesbrough were shell shocked and would go on to lose the final 2-0.

Steven Gerrard, Liverpool 3-3 West Ham United – 2006

The day Steven Gerrard quite literally won the FA Cup on his own.

The then European Champions Liverpool laboured through this entire final with West Ham United doing everything they could to pull off a major cup final upset.

Liverpool were losing the final 3-2 with the game entering injury time before Gerrard hit a ferocious volley from 35 yards into the bottom corner.

Stunning. Another momentous day in Cardiff for Liverpool.
