The FA Cup is tipped as the most prestigious domestic cup competition in the world and it has mustered up some cracking finals down the years. Here we take a trip down memory lane to revisit the best 5 finals this side of the millennium.

5) Manchester City 0-1 Wigan Athletic, 2013

The FA Cup is all about true underdog stories and 2013 provided probably one of the greatest of all time as little old Wigan took on Manchester City in the final.

Wigan were written off well before a ball had even been kicked with the global stars of Man City expected to comfortably blow the Latics aside.

However, in a true David vs Goliath story Ben Watson rose like a salmon at the near post to head home what turned out to the be the winner in the 91st minute.

4) Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea, 2017

In an all London final Arsenal faced Premier League champions and rivals Chelsea with many expecting the Blues to comfortably win this one.

However, Arsenal truly do have a love affair with the FA Cup and produced a mammoth performance to beat Chelsea 2-1 with goals from Sanchez and Ramsey.

This match had everything - a controversial goal, last ditch saves, a red card & end to end action.

It was Arsenal's third FA Cup victory in 4 years.

3) Arsenal 3-2 Hull City, 2014

Hull City stunned the Gunners by going 2-0 up inside 8 minutes with goals from James Chester & Curtis Davies.

It seemed a famous FA Cup upset was on the cards.

However, Arsenal managed to claw their way back into the final with a superb 30 yard free kick from Santi Cazorla and a 71st minute equaliser from Laurent Koscielny.

The comeback was complete when Aaron Ramsey broke Hull City fans hearts with an extra time toe poke.

2) Liverpool 2-1 Arsenal, 2001

This is surely the most dramatic FA Cup final of all time in what was the first FA Cup final to be played in Wales during the reconstruction of Wembley Stadium.

The Gunners were leading Liverpool 1-0 with just 7 minutes remaining on the clock in what had largely been a rather uneventful final.

Cue Michael Owen. The English striker, who would later go on to win the Ballon D'or that year, stunned Arsenal with goals in the 83rd and 88th minute to send the Liverpool fans into a state of pandemonium.

Arsenal fans to this day still wonder how they lost this final.

1) Liverpool 3-3 West Ham United, 2006

The above should really say Steven Gerrard 3-3 West Ham United.

The last final in Cardiff didn't disappoint with Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard quite literally putting in a Roy of the Rovers performance to ensure the then European champions weren't the victim of a major cup upset.

The hammers took a shock 2-0 lead but Liverpool fought back to level the scores through Cisse and that man Gerrard. West Ham edged back in front shortly after through a Paul Konchesky fluke on the hour mark.

West Ham looked destined for the cup with the clock ticking into 90 before Steven Gerrard popped up from nowhere to unleash an absolute screamer from 35 yards in front of the travelling army of reds.

The match ended up going all the way to penalties with West Ham missing three of their four kicks and ultimately losing the final.
