TOP FIVE HOME KITS IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE 2020/21 SEASON

Spread the love

This Saturday the Premier League once again gets underway and We Love Sport’s Jonathan Fone looks at the five best home kits in the Premier League for the upcoming 2020/21 season. There are some absolute beauts. Don’t forget you can find your local pub or bar to catch all the action in via the We Love Sport app.

Another season, another set of home kits to get used to. Over the last decade we’ve seen some iconic home strips on display, and every summer we see the fashion dial twist a notch; often dramatically, for better or worse (We’re looking at you, Cardiff City 2015/16!).

Whilst we’ve already seen some of the upcoming season’s kits in action, we take a look deeper to pick out five of the best looking kits for teams competing in the Premier League this year. Of course as the old saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This is just our opinion, please feel free to take up any disagreements with the comment section…

5. EVERTON

Of course, it’s very blue. Possibly bluer than it has been for quite a while. Everton look to have moved on from last year’s Umbro kit by introducing Hummel as their new manufacturer. The tidy pattern and arrow like symbols on the shoulders make this a solid kit – and they’ve even managed to lose the horrendous looking ‘Angry Birds’ arm sponsor which makes a massive difference.

4. SHEFFIELD UNITED

Hot off the back of an astonishingly unexpected and successful 19/20 campaign which clearly deserves credit, Sheffield United look to make their impact on the Premier League permanent as they go into this season – with a very neat looking kit to boot.

The kit looks very clean in it’s elegant white, with three red stripes on the front – following a subtle pattern which was first used on the Argentina 2018 World Cup shirt, well done Adidas!

3. ARSENAL

For the second time on this list we feature an Adidas kit – and Arsenal’s new kit is a retro stunner. The new kit boasts a dramatic and aesthetically pleasing pattern which is a reference to Highbury’s marble halls, using a darker shade of red – whilst maintaining the traditional red and white.

The synonymous Emirates logo presence also appears to have increased in size with the inclusion of a slogan ‘Fly Better’… is this a subliminal piece of advice from the club for David Luiz and his occasional blunders in defence? We’ll just have to see.

2. BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION

Collars are something that we’ve seen plenty of times in the Premier League, though most notably in the 90’s – from Peter Beardsley sporting a scruffy collared Everton shirt in the debut 92/93 season to Eric Cantona’s iconic turned up effort that somehow managed to stay up after that infamous kung fu kick – it’s great to see they’re making a comeback at Brighton.

4. SOUTHAMPTON

It’s tough at the top – but our favourite kit this year is Southampton’s. This year’s kit celebrates the clubs 135th anniversary and throws back to the club’s history kit of 1885. Yes, we like a sash. It looks brilliant. Why? Maybe it’s because we simply don’t see sashes enough in football. This shirt could make any slightly overweight, sunburnt, middle aged man drinking beer on the south coast look fantastic by wearing it.

So there are our top 5 shirts for the upcoming season! What do you think? Be sure to keep an eye out for them as the Premier League kicks off for the opener this weekend.
