Ashes City Guide: Manchester

For the Fourth Test, The Ashes heads to the north west of the country. Manchester is one of the best places in the country for a party and a celebration, and hopefully that’s what we’ll be doing by then.

It’s a huge city. Plenty of pubs all around for all of your needs. There’s We Love Sport pubs that do food, pubs that suit families and also pubs that suit the pure party mode that The Ashes brings.

Barmy Army HQ - Yates Printworks

Yates Printworks in Manchester is the Barmy Army HQ. Not far from Manchester Victoria Station and near Manchester Arndale, here’s the place to be for the ultimate Ashes feeling. Get to Yates Printworks every night after the action for the after party!

Barmy Army Hub

With Manchester, you’ve got the beauty of two Barmy Army pubs! The Directors Box is right in the middle of the city. Food or drink, Director’s Box offers a great party vibe, especially once the Ashes get going.

Closest to the station - The Waldorf

There are a few big train stations in Manchester, but the biggest is Piccadilly. If you arrive into Piccadilly, be sure to visit the Waldorf. The pub has a great menu and is nicely tucked away off of the main road.

If you arrive at Victoria, head to our HQ – Yates Printworks and if you arrive into Deansgate, go to Oxnoble.

The Designated Sports Bar - Walkabout

If you’re in and around the Barmy Army HQ in Yates, well you’re right by the bar iconic for sports – Walkabout.

Walkabout Printworks has a host of great food, pints and atmosphere. Beware though, the Australian nature may mean it’s not a happy place to be if the Aussie’s secure the victory…
