Ashes City Guide: Leeds

Leeds is where the Third Test of the Ashes series will be. The Otley Run is obviously the famous pub crawl for the cricket and we can’t wait to bring you into We Love Sport pubs and bars during that.

However, it’s not just The Otley Run that Leeds has to offer. We Love Sport have plenty of pubs and bars within the city for you to visit throughout the test!

Barmy Army HQ - Walkabout

For the HQ in Leeds, we go to the Walkabout. In the middle of the city, there’s not many better spots in the entirety of Leeds. A huge venue that is born ready for the party that The Ashes will inevitably bring!

Not only that, Walkabout does actually do food too, so if you’re wanting a quick burger and a few pints, look no further.

Also, at the end of each day, Walkabout is hosting the after party, so make your way down!

How to get to Walkabout

Closest to the station - Moot Hall Arms

The Moot Hall Arms is right by the station and ready made for a sports party. The pub opens up early on Leeds United matchdays and is known for its fantastic beer garden. If you’re getting off of the train, head there for a few pints in the sun and to get the party started!

On The Way To The Ground - The Otley Run

There’s not many more famous strips in English cricket than The Otley Run. From the centre of town all the way to the ground, it’s pints galore. The Otley Run has three great We Love Sport pubs and bars for you to enjoy. You’ve got The Library, The Dry Dock and The Hyde Park. Make sure you pop in for a few pints!

City Centre Pints - The Merchant

The city centre of Leeds is always great fun. We have our Barmy Army HQ nearby too. Leeds has The Editor’s Draught and The Bowers Tap. But, it’s also got The Merchant. The Merchant is a brilliant spot to go to before heading back to the HQ, especially if you’re after some food. As a whole though, you’ve got plenty of options in the centre!

Late Night Antics - Popworld

Similar to The Merchant, you’ve got so much option with Leeds for nightlife. You can head to the Barmy Army HQ Walkabout for your all night celebrations, but you’ve also got Popworld! Like many of the other previous city guides, Popworld features as the go-to for nights out.
