Tale of the Tape

Katie Taylor (22-0) is the greatest female boxer to ever live. 18 gold medals and 1 bronze at amateur level (including 5 world championships) and she then won every professional title available to her. Her lightening-quick speed and incredibly durable chin are two of her biggest strengths. The fighting pride of Ireland won the biggest fight of her career against Amanda Serrano last year. Emphatically, the 36 year old decided to step up in weight for this fight as the Serrano one wasn't available. Taylor's aggressive style is evidently key to her success and she'll be looking to win these belts and head on to the Serrano rematch in Croke Park. She's 36, so she'll be looking to win this fight and move swiftly onto the big one. Given these points, this fight may be as important as all of the others combined for her legacy! Chantelle Cameron (17-0) has been world champion in two different weight classes and is currently the undisputed light-welterweight champion. Her amateur career wasn't as glamorous as Katie's, in fact Katie actually defeated Cameron back in 2011. Turning pro in 2017, she has gone from strength to strength. With 8 stoppages in her 17 figh ts, her power isn't to be underestimated as she defends her titles in enemy territory.

How will it go down?

Taylor and Cameron have met way back in 2011. Taylor defeated Cameron in Poland on the way to winning an amateur European championship. Since then, Taylor has won a plethora of medals and titles and has become the biggest name in the women's game. She has only finished 6 of her opponents though. Stepping up in weight will either mean that she's got more power and will finish more opponents, or it'll be even harder. Cameron's career has been moving on slowly but surely and she's evidently ready for her biggest test. It will be an absolute scrap and it comes down to how well Cameron can truly deal with the pressure.

We Love Sport prediction

Katie Taylor has dominated some big names and won huge fights. Chantelle Cameron is no joke and her familiarity with the weight is something Taylor doesn't have. Despite that, Taylor has the speed and home advantage and should come away with a decisive points victory. Prediction: Katie Taylor via unanimous decision.
